Initial Language Legacy ‘ILLEC’ Honours NupekoTV For Promoting Nupe Language Preservation

Ilorin, Kwara State– The Initial Language Legacy and Culture (ILLEC) has presented an Award of Appreciation to Kwara-based media outlet NupekoTV for its outstanding efforts in promoting the Nupe language and cultural heritage in Kwara State.

The recognition noted NupekoTV’s commitment to preserving the linguistic and cultural identity of the Nupe people through its dedicated programming and initiatives.

Meanwhile, the award ceremony, held in grand style, was graced by prominent dignitaries, including the revered Etsu Nupe, Alhaji (Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar CFR.

The Etsu Nupe was also commended for his steadfast support of efforts to preserve and promote the Nupe Language, ensuring its relevance for future generations.

Other notable individuals who were honoured for their contributions to the promotion of the Nupe Language include Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago, Turakin Nupe; Dr. (Mrs) Aishatu Gogo Ndayako, Permanent Secretary Ecological; Pharm Yahaya Mayaki, Mayaki Nupe; and Dr Abubakar Abdullahi Kuso, Dan Wadata Nupe, among others.

However, the funder and director of ILLEC, Adamu Idris Manarakis, expressed his gratitude to all the awardees for their tireless efforts in promoting the Nupe Language.

He also commended NupekoTV Lafiagi for its commitment to preserving and promoting the Nupe Language.

The award ceremony celebrated the vibrant cultural heritage of the Nupe people, stating the need to preserve and promote indigenous languages.
