Ilorin West Residents Storm Egbejila Ward In Massive Show Of Support For Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB) At APC Governorship Primary
The crowd, which filled Egbejila Ward in Ilorin West, was seen chanting, singing, and displaying solidarity messages in support of Bolarinwa, whom they described as “the only candidate capable of liberating the state and bringing governance closer to the grassroots.”
Ilorin, Kwara State – Residents of Ilorin West Local Government Area trooped out en masse on Thursday in overwhelming support for Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, popularly known as BOB, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election continues across Kwara State.
The crowd, which filled Egbejila Ward in Ilorin West, was seen chanting, singing, and displaying solidarity messages in support of Bolarinwa, whom they described as “the only candidate capable of liberating the state and bringing governance closer to the grassroots.”
Witnesses at the scene said the turnout cut across youths, women, elders, and party loyalists who openly declared their backing for the former political office holder, insisting that his emergence would “restore hope and deliver people-oriented governance.”
According to supporters who spoke during the gathering, the endorsement of BOB was based on his long-standing political experience, humility, and consistent engagement with grassroots development.
One of the supporters was quoted as saying: “We are here because we believe Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa is the only one who understands the needs of the people. He has shown over time that he is reliable, humble, and committed to the progress of Kwara State.”
Another party loyalist added that the Egbejila Ward was not politically motivated in isolation, but a reflection of what they called “widespread acceptance” of Bolarinwa’s candidacy across Ilorin West.
“This is not just about today. It is about the future of Kwara State. BOB is the candidate that can take governance closer to the people. He has always put the state ahead of personal interest,” the supporter said.
During the exercise, supporters were seen carrying banners and chanting slogans in solidarity, repeatedly declaring “BOB takeover Ilorin west” as they rallied around the APC governorship primary venue.
However, the atmosphere was charged with excitement as supporters continued to express confidence in Bolarinwa’s chances in the ongoing party primary.
Some of the chants heard from the crowd included calls describing him as “the people’s choice” and “a tested and trusted leader,” while others insisted that his track record in public service positioned him ahead of other aspirants.
BOB’s supporters further emphasized that his political journey has been defined as consistency, accessibility, and a people-first approach to leadership.
They maintained that his experience in governance had prepared him adequately for higher responsibility, adding that Kwara State required a leader who understands both administrative processes and grassroots realities.
