‘I Killed 32 People In Ibadan, Police, Soldiers Praised Me’ — Notorious Thug “Shawama” Boasts In Viral Video, Declares Support For Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election

Ibadan, Oyo State– A man identified as “Shawama,” described as a notorious political thug allegedly campaigning for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, has stirred outrage after confessing in a viral video that he killed 32 people in Ibadan, while also claiming that security operatives commended and freed him.

In the disturbing footage obtained by Afrika Eyes, Shawama, seen among a group of supporters, made a  remarks when asked by a staunch supporter of Tinubu about his violent activities in Ibadan.

Responding without hesitation, he said: “When they wanted to kill us and they tried to suppress us in Ibadan, I reacted and killed 32 people. Nigerian Police saw me, they told me to go home; they all hailed me and said I tried. Nigerian soldiers saw me; they also said I tried, that those people wanted to kill me.”

He went further to declare political loyalty, chanting: “Asiwaju 2027, he is our oga.”

The video, which has since circulated widely on social media, has raised serious concerns about political violence, impunity, and the alleged complicity of security agencies in Nigeria.

Reacting to the development, the Oyo State Police Command denied any knowledge of the suspect and distanced itself from the allegations made in the video.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, the police said there is no record of Shawama ever being arrested or processed by its operatives.

The statement read: “The Oyo State Police Command has obtained a video in which an individual identified as Shawama, in the company of others, claims to have killed 32 people. The Command wishes to categorically state that there is no record of such an individual having been arrested by our operatives at any point.”

Despite the denial, the Command confirmed that it has launched an investigation into the matter.

“However, as a responsible and responsive agency, the Command has launched a thorough investigation into the allegations and the confessional statements contained in the video. The investigation is being conducted leveraging advanced technology, including digital forensics and digital footprint analysis, to ensure a robust and credible outcome.”

The police further called on members of the public to assist in tracking down the suspect and any accomplices.

“The Command further appeals to members of the public with information that can lead to the identification and arrest of Shawama or his accomplices to come forward and assist law enforcement in bringing them to justice,” Olayinka said.

Authorities also assured that updates on the progress and outcome of the investigation would be made public in due course.

The incident has reignited concerns about the role of political thuggery in Nigeria’s electoral process, particularly in states like Oyo, where Ibadan has historically witnessed episodes of violence linked to political contests.
