Hunters Foil Kidnap Attack In Kwara, 2 Killed
The town’s hunters gave the Kidnappers a hot chase, exchanged gunfire with them and in the ensuing gun battle
Ilorin, Kwara State– Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Tuesday evening invaded the Oke-Ode community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State and killed one person.
It was gathered that the assailants targeted a popular commercial Point of Sale (POS) operator in the community who narrowly escaped their clutches.
An eyewitness, identified as Iya Aliyah, told FreshInsight TV that around 7 pm tonight, Fulani guys numbering 6, stormed the town in a Gestapo manner on bikes, attacked and attempted to Kidnap a popular commercial POS operator, who escaped being by the whiskers.
“While trying to prevent their targeted victim from escaping, the Kidnappers shot sporadically and in the ensuing melee, a trader named Iya Niyi from Aleye compound was caught by a stray bullet and died on the spot.
“The town’s hunters gave the Kidnappers a hot chase, exchanged gunfire with them and in the ensuing gun battle, one of the assailants, a teenager was killed” she confirmed.
“As I’m speaking with you, the local hunters are still in pursuit of the remaining suspects, they’re combing the surrounding forest” she added.
