Minna, Niger State – Hundreds of young people took to the streets of Suleja Local Government Area on Monday protesting against the escalating cost of living and calling for an end to perceived poor governance.

The protesters blocked the popular Kaduna Road, a major highway linking Kaduna to Abuja.

The protesters carried placards with various messages, including “We Are Not Slaves,” “Enough is Enough,” “Stop Anti-Masses Policies,” “Hardship is Unbearable,” and “Fuel Subsidy Must Be Restored.”

The protest is occurring three days before a scheduled nationwide demonstration by Nigerian youths, who are advocating for improvements in the country’s economic conditions.

The protest, scheduled from August 1 to August 10, is named “10 Days of Rage” and will use the hashtag #EndGovernanceInNigeria.
