He Ruined Over 500 Lives”: Late Police Officer Ekene Nwosu Accused Of Massive Frame-Up Scheme In Akwa Ibom

They accuse him of framing civilians, illegally seizing their vehicles, and selling them off using fraudulent court orders.

Uyo, Akwa Ibom — The recent death of a controversial police officer, CSP Ekene Joseph Nwosu, in Ekiti State has reignited outrage among alleged victims who claim he was behind a widespread campaign of human rights abuses and wrongful imprisonment in Akwa Ibom State.

Multiple individuals have come forward with harrowing testimonies alleging that Nwosu, who served in the Anti-Robbery Unit, orchestrated the arrest and imprisonment of over 500 innocent Nigerians under false pretenses.

They accuse him of framing civilians, illegally seizing their vehicles, and selling them off using fraudulent court orders.

One of the most vocal accusers, Da Zion Umoh, claims he was arrested and detained naked in a police cell for nearly two days after intervening in the case of another victim whose car had allegedly been confiscated and sold by Nwosu.

“Ekene Nwosu destroyed countless lives,” Umoh told reporters.

“He would stop innocent people, fabricate charges, and use corrupt court orders to detain them and seize their property. I’ve helped some victims get justice, and I even won cases against him. I garnished his bank accounts and was working to see him imprisoned.”

Umoh also alleged that high-ranking politicians and elements within the Akwa Ibom State Government shielded Nwosu from accountability, making it difficult to remove him despite petitions filed with national police authorities and the National Assembly.

He further stated that several people, including a serving councillor accused of rape, received protection from the state due to political affiliations—claims that could spark wider investigations if substantiated.

According to Umoh, one victim, Adanne Nkem, was kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a vehicle by Nwosu and his alleged accomplice, Tony. Others, he said, were detained in police cells for nearly two years because their families could not afford bribes.

“Ekene took me to court demanding ₦20 million for defamation, but I counter-sued him for ₦100 million with evidence showing his criminal activities,” Umoh added.

Another accuser, journalist Akaiso Akaiso, said he was once falsely targeted by Nwosu, but managed to confront him before senior police leadership.

“I made him crawl on his knees like Nebuchadnezzar, begging for forgiveness before the commissioner. That led to his transfer,” Akaiso stated.

Ekene Nwosu’s sudden death under undisclosed circumstances in Ekiti State has left his alleged victims with mixed feelings—some seeking closure, others demanding further justice.
