Handcuffed Young Man Begging For Mercy Shot Dead At Close Range By Police In Delta
In the footage the young man is seen crying and repeatedly begging for his life, insisting on his innocence while pleading with the officers to spare him.
Asaba, Delta State– Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Effurum Area Command in Delta State allegedly shot and killed a yet-to-be-identified young man in broad daylight, despite his hands being tied behind his back and his repeated pleas for mercy.
The incident, which occurred in broad daylight, was captured in a disturbing video obtained by Afrika Eyes, showing the victim with his hands tied behind his back, helpless and surrounded by armed men believed to be police officers.
In the footage the young man is seen crying and repeatedly begging for his life, insisting on his innocence while pleading with the officers to spare him.
“Officer, I beg, I will tell you everything. It was my friend that deceived me,” the young man cried.
Despite his pleas, one of the officers shot him in the leg at close range.
The victim, visibly in pain, continued to beg, saying, “I will carry you go the place. I don’t know anything concern it.”
He repeatedly maintained that he had no involvement in whatever crime he was being accused of.
“I will carry you go there, officer. I don’t know anything concern it. Officer, I beg. Officer, please. Officer, I don’t know,” he said in desperation.
Eyewitnesses at the scene watched in horror as the officers ignored his repeated appeals. Moments later, he was reportedly shot again at close range.
After the shooting, the officers allegedly left the scene, abandoning the lifeless body of the young man.
The video has since sparked widespread condemnation, with many Nigerians describing the act as a blatant case of extrajudicial execution.
