Gunmen Abduct APC Councillor Muhammad Onumenya Along Doma–Yelwa Road In Nasarawa

Lafia, Nasarawa State– Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted an All Progressives Congress (APC) councillor, Muhammad Onumenya, in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Afrika Eyes gathered that Onumenya was reportedly kidnapped along the Doma–Yelwa Village Road while travelling through the area.
Meanwhile, the councillor who represents Doka Ward in Doma LGA, was reportedly kidnapped on February 23, 2026, at about 7:35 p.m. while travelling within the area.
He was ambushed by armed men along the largely isolated stretch of the Doma–Yelwa road. The attackers were said to have whisked him away to an unknown destination, leaving behind his vehicle at the scene.
Following the report of the abduction, security agencies swiftly mobilised a patrol team to the area.
The operation was reinforced by members of local vigilante groups and hunters, who joined efforts to comb the surrounding bushes in search of the victim.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official communication from the abductors, and the whereabouts of the councillor remain unknown.
