Gov Yusuf Reshuffles Cabinet, Sacks SSG, Chief Of Staff, Commissioners
Several commissioners retained their positions, including the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice,
Kano State– Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reshuffled his cabinet, sacking the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the Chief of Staff, the Commissioner for Information, and four other commissioners.
The decision, made known on Thursday, by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor’s spokesperson, described the shakeup as a “pragmatic political realignment” to optimize governance and deliver democratic dividends to the people of Kano State.
Among those affected is the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, whose office has been scrapped, and Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, the SSG, who was removed on health grounds.
Several commissioners retained their positions, including the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi; Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Danjuma Mahmoud; and Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran. Other key portfolios, such as Budget and Planning, Works and Housing, and Internal Security, also saw no changes.
Governor Yusuf also reassigned some cabinet members to improve administrative performance and ensure effective service delivery.
Meanwhile, those reassigned are the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulssalam, who was moved from Ministry of Local Government to Higher Education; Hon. Mohammad Tajo Usman moved from Science and Technology to Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata from Higher Education to Science, Technology and Innovation.
The reassignment list includes the following changes: Hon. Amina Abdullahi has been moved from the Ministry of Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation to the Ministry of Women, Children, and Persons with Disabilities. Hon. Nasiru Sule Garo has been reassigned from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to the Ministry of Special Duties.
Hon. Ibrahim Namadi, formerly Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, now heads the Ministry of Transport.
Similarly, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa has transitioned from the Ministry of Education to the Ministry of Water Resources.
Additional reassignments include Hon. Ali Haruna Makoda, who shifts from the Ministry of Water Resources to the Ministry of Education; Hon. Aisha Lawal Saji, who moves from the Ministry of Women, Children, and Persons with Disabilities to the Ministry of Tourism and Culture; and Hon. Muhammad Diggol, who leaves the Ministry of Transport to oversee the Ministry of Project Monitoring and Evaluation.
Governor Yusuf has also announced the removal of five cabinet members: Ibrahim Jibril Fagge (Finance), Ladidi Ibrahim Garko (Tourism and Culture), Baba Halilu Dantiye (Information and Internal Affairs), Shehu Aliyu Yammedi (Special Duties), and Abbas Sani Abbas (Rural and Community Development).
The governor has directed the Chief of Staff and the five dismissed commissioners to report to his office for potential reassignment.
