It was gathered that the incident occurred late on Friday, as the assailants stormed the site at around 9 p.m.

According to Sabastine Magit, President of the Butura Youth Movement, the victims were working when the gunmen, allegedly speaking the Fulani dialect, opened fire.

He explained that four people died instantly, while five others sustained injuries.

Magit confirmed the identities of the deceased as Bwefuk Musa, 21; Klingshak Dickson, 21; Promise Joshua, 20; and Nyam Abaka, 20.

“In yet another unprovoked assault on the Butura community, armed terrorists targeted innocent youths working at a mining site near the villages of Kuba and Maikatako in Bokkos LGA,” Magit said in a statement on Saturday, October 12.

“This attack comes just four days after a tragic incident in Wumat village, where five members of a family, including a pregnant woman, were brutally killed.”

Magit further stated that the assailants fled before nearby military personnel could intervene. The incident is part of a growing trend, with more than 20 people from the Butura community reportedly killed in the past month, allegedly by Fulani attackers.

The injured victims are currently receiving medical care, while local authorities and security forces have been notified as tensions in the area remain high following the attack.
