Jos, Plateau State — No fewer than four people sustained injuries after a residential building collapsed in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The building, owned by a resident identified as Samuel Stephen, crumbled in the early hours of Monday, following hours of heavy rainfall the previous night.

According to a local resident, Dusu Judith, the house, located near Government College, Riyom, collapsed while the occupants were asleep, leaving four people injured.

The rainfall, which started on Sunday evening and persisted into the night, is believed to have weakened the structure.

According to Judith, “The people were asleep in their house last night when the building suddenly collapsed. Fortunately, no lives were lost, but four individuals sustained injuries.

“Most of those injured were children, and they are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.”

Another resident, Bot Rwang, expressed shock over the incident.

“We truly thank God that several family members living in the house survived when it caved in on Monday morning. It’s miraculous how they escaped, considering the structure completely collapsed, leaving debris scattered all around,” Rwang said.
