Four Family Members Abducted By Suspected Kidnappers Posing As Vigilantes In FCT

Abuja, Nigeria– Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers stormed the Chikakore area of Kubwa in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the early hours of Monday, abducting four family members, including a parent and three children.
According to the FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the assailants disguised themselves as vigilante members, deceiving the family into opening their gate before launching the attack.
The police were alerted at around 1:00 am on January 27, 2025, when a distress call was made regarding the abduction.
However, upon arriving at the scene, authorities discovered that seven armed men, carrying machetes and sticks, had carried out the attack.
A neighbor, who tried to intervene during the incident, was injured and is receiving treatment at the Kubwa General Hospital.
“The suspects successfully abducted the four victims, and our officers are actively working to locate the family members and arrest the perpetrators,” Adeh stated.
The police have launched an ongoing search and rescue operation and assured that they will work diligently to bring the criminals to justice.
“The FCT Police Command has commenced a comprehensive search and rescue operation to ensure the safe recovery of the abducted victims and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“We urge residents of the Chikakore community and the general public to remain calm and vigilant. Any useful information that could assist the investigation and rescue efforts should be promptly reported to the police,” she adeed.
