FG, UAE Reach Agreement On Visa Issuance For Nigerian Passport Holders

He said the  resumption of visas will be effective from July 15, 2024.

Abuja, Nigeria– The Federal Government has reached an agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to facilitate visa issuance for Nigerian passport holders.

The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, disclosed the agreement in a statement released on his X handle on Monday, July 15, 2024.

He stated the collaborative efforts between both nations to strengthen bilateral relations and promote ease of travel.

According to him,”Following successful talks and extensive, mutually beneficial negotiations between the Government of the United Arab Emirates and the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, an agreement was reached allowing for the resumption of travel to the UAE for Nigerian passport holders.

“This agreement includes updated controls and conditions to facilitate obtaining a UAE visa.

He said the  resumption of visas will be effective from July 15, 2024.

In 2022, UAE imposed visa restrictions on Nigerians and nationals of approximately 20 other African countries.

The affected countries are Nigeria, Uganda, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Cameroon, Liberia, Burundi, Republic of Guinea, Gambia, Togo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Benin, Ivory Coast, Congo, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Comoros, and the Dominican Republic.
