Female NSCDC Officer Crushed As Operational Van Runs Over Her During ‘Show of Force’ Exercise In Abuja
The accident occurred during a convoy manoeuvre exercise in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), near buildings housing the FCT Police Command.
Abuja, Nigeria– A female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) was on Saturday morning crushed by one of the corps’ operational vans during a “show of force” exercise in Abuja.
Afrika Eyes gathered that the accident occurred during a convoy manoeuvre exercise in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), near buildings housing the FCT Police Command.
According to an eyewitness who is familiar with the incident, the officers were participating in a coordinated force demonstration when the accident happened.
“The officers were exercising force display this morning when the van suddenly rammed into one of the female officers,” the source said. “It was part of the show of force. Nobody expected something like this to happen.”
A video obtained by Afrika Eyes shows at least two operational vehicles being used for the demonstration. In the footage, a black van with red wheels is seen making a sharp turn in an open area as part of the convoy formation.
Moments later, the van appears to lose alignment during the manoeuvre. The female officer, who was positioned close to the moving vehicle, reportedly fell — possibly from an unsecured door or side step — before being pinned beneath one of the tyres.
Eyewitnesses in the video could be heard screaming as the van ran over her.
Officers and civilians at the scene immediately rushed to her aid. Several men were seen struggling to lift the heavy operational van off the officer, while others screamed for help.
In the chaotic aftermath, some female officers were seen collapsing in distress. One woman was captured in the video jumping repeatedly in shock, clutching her head as others tried to pull her away from the scene.
There has been no official statement yet from the NSCDC authorities regarding the circumstances that led to the incident or the condition of the injured officer.
However, eyewitness confirmed that an ambulance was quickly called to the scene and the injured officer was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
