Family Cries Out To Tinubu, IGP Over Killing Of MOPOL Officer By Boko Haram Terrorists In Yobe, Demands Release Of Corpse For Burial

According to the family, Suleiman was the first son of the family and had always dreamed of becoming a police officer to serve Nigeria.

Abuja, Nigeria– The family of a slain Nigerian mobile police officer, Suleiman AbdulRazaq, has cried out to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, over the killing of their son by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Yobe State.

The deceased officer, identified as MOPOL Suleiman AbdulRazaq with service number 539797 attached to MOPOL 45, Abuja, was reportedly killed last Friday at about 1am after terrorists ambushed a police training camp in Yobe State.

The grieving family lamented that several days after the attack, the Nigeria Police Force and the MOPOL 45 command where the officer served had yet to officially inform them about his death or disclose the whereabouts of his corpse for burial according to Islamic rites.

According to the family, Suleiman was the first son of the family and had always dreamed of becoming a police officer to serve Nigeria.

“We call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu to order those who know where his corpse is to release it so we can bury him according to Islamic rites,” a family member said.

“Suleiman is the first son of his family. We are deeply saddened that he died this way.

The family further appealed to the Inspector-General of Police to ensure that the slain officer receives full compensation and all entitlements due to him as a fallen officer.

They also urged the Federal Government and the police authorities not to abandon the family after the tragic incident.

The killing of the mobile police officer comes amid worsening insecurity in Nigeria’s North-East region, where Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists have continued to launch attacks on security formations and communities despite repeated military operations against insurgents.
