Eid al-Kabir: Sarkin Gobir Calls For Unity, Compassion In Sallah Message

Sarkin Gobir appealed to Nigerians to use the occasion to strengthen national unity and heal divisions across ethnic, religious, and political lines.

Ilorin, Kwara State– The Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin Emirate and Wazirin Kasar Hausa, Alhaji Yakubu Garba Gobir, has extended heartfelt greetings to Muslims across Nigeria as they mark the 2025 Eid al-Kabir festival, calling for unity, compassion, and reflection during the holy celebration.

In his Sallah message released on Thursday in Ilorin, Alhaji Gobir conveyed special greetings to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, and the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CON.

He urged Nigerians, particularly the Muslim faithful, to use the festive period to strengthen bonds of brotherhood, promote peaceful coexistence, and extend kindness to the less privileged.

“Eid al-Kabir is a time of sacrifice, sharing, and love. Let us remember the values it teaches and apply them in our daily lives for a better society,” the traditional ruler said.

The Sarkin Gobir also extended warm wishes to the Gobirawa people at home, across Northern Nigeria, and in the diaspora, praying for peace, prosperity, and continued unity in the country.

He urged Muslims to embody the true spirit of the festival by extending kindness to their neighbors, promoting peaceful coexistence, and offering sincere prayers for the nation.
“As we celebrate with family and friends, let us not forget those in need. Sharing, caring, and praying for our country are acts of ibadah that bring us closer to Allah,” he added.
Sarkin Gobir appealed to Nigerians to use the occasion to strengthen national unity and heal divisions across ethnic, religious, and political lines.
“Nigeria stands at a crucial point in its history. Now more than ever, we must rise above our differences and build a society anchored in justice, tolerance, and accountability. Leadership at every level must reflect the fear of God and the well-being of the people,” Alhaji Gobir emphasised.
He, however, commended the efforts of security agencies, religious leaders, and community stakeholders who work tirelessly to uphold peace and stability during the festive period.
He prayed for continued protection, prosperity, and divine guidance for the nation.
