Edo Police Arrest Two Suspects For Threatening To Burn Woman’s House, Kill Her Family Over N1.5m 

Operatives of the Command through proper investigation tracked down and arrested one Prince Anthony Uwa ‘m’ aged 31 and William Ugiagdor ‘m’ aged 38 who have both confessed to the crime.

Benin, Edo State- The Edo State Police Command has arrested two suspects for conspiracy, threat to life, and arson after allegedly sending menacing text messages to a woman.

In a statement released by SP Moses Joel Yamu, the command’s spokesperson, the suspects had demanded N1.5 million from one Evelyn Akpan, threatening to set her house ablaze and assassinate her entire family if she failed to comply.

The arrest was made on Friday, October 11, 2024, following an investigation into the threats.

“On 08/09/2024, a complaint was received from one Evelyn Akpan ‘f’ that on 30th September 2024 an unknown person sent her text messages threatening to burn down her house and assassinate her entire family if she does not pay the sum of One Million, Five Hundred Thousand naira (1,500,000),” the statement read.

“Operatives of the Command through proper investigation tracked down and arrested one Prince Anthony Uwa ‘m’ aged 31 and William Ugiagdor ‘m’ aged 38 who have both confessed to the crime.

“The Commissioner of Police CP Nemi Iwo (+) is calling on the good people of Edo state especially the youths to eschew crime and criminal activities and rather embrace and explore legitimate opportunities, pursue education, and develop skills that will benefit them and their communities as he emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and working towards a safer and more prosperous future.
