Ilorin,  Kwara State– There was confusion at an Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday, when a woman identified as Mulikat Yusuf slumped after her husband, Ishaq Abdulganiyu, insisted on divorcing her.

Abdulganiyu told the court that he was no longer interested in the marriage, a declaration that left his wife visibly devastated.

Meanwhile,  Yusuf had pleaded with the court not to grant the divorce, saying she had nowhere to go after bearing six children for her husband.

Witnesses said that shortly after the husband’s statement, Yusuf walked out of the courtroom deep in thought but suddenly collapsed.

However, court officials and sympathizers quickly rushed to her aid and revived her by pouring water on her.

The presiding judge, Mr. Toyin Aluko, urged Yusuf to take every possible step to reconcile with her husband and explore peaceful resolution options.

The case was subsequently adjourned until December 10 for a report of settlement or continuation of hearing.
