Davido Slams Tinubu Supporter Rarara Over Insecurity Comments, Urges Him To ‘Stop Being Political Stooge, Put Nigeria First’

Ikeja,  Lagos– Global Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has lashed out at popular Hausa musician and staunch supporter of President Bola Tinubu, Dauda Kahutu, widely known as Rarara, urging him to be patriotic, put Nigeria first and stop prioritising personal interests and politics over the welfare of Nigerians.

Davido made the remarks on Wednesday while reacting to comments by Rarara, who had accused him of acting “like a terrorist” for drawing international attention to Nigeria’s worsening insecurity challenges, including the recent abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State.

The singer responded to Rarara in the Hausa language in a statement obtained by Afrika Eyes.

Addressing the musician directly, Davido criticised attempts to silence Nigerians who speak out against insecurity and other challenges facing the country.

According to the global Afrobeats superstar, “First of all, anyone who truly loves Nigeria will not remain silent about the insecurity problems troubling the country, nor will they try to stop others from expressing their concerns about it.

“A lack of compassion, putting personal interests first, acting as a political stooge, and prioritising selfish motives over the welfare of the people are not things to be proud of.

“Be patriotic and loyal to your country. Stop placing politics above the truth, and fear God in everything you do. @kahuturarara.”

Davido’s response came after Rarara criticised him for publicly highlighting Nigeria’s insecurity situation before an international audience.

The exchange followed concerns raised by the singer over the state of security in the country, particularly incidents involving the abduction of schoolchildren and other violent attacks that have continued to generate public outrage.

Davido’s comments have since stirred reactions on social media, with many Nigerians weighing in on the debate over whether public figures should speak openly about the country’s security challenges or refrain from doing so to protect Nigeria’s image abroad.

The Afrobeats star maintained that patriotism requires citizens to speak up about problems affecting the country rather than remain silent, insisting that genuine love for Nigeria should be demonstrated through concern for the safety and welfare of its people.

However, his remarks also appeared to take aim at individuals he believes place political loyalty above national interest, urging Nigerians to prioritise truth, compassion and accountability in addressing the nation’s challenges.
