Court In Port Harcourt Removes Pro-Wike APC Caretaker Committee

Port Harcourt, Rivers State- The State High Court in Port Harcourt has ruled against the Pro-Wike faction led by Tony Okocha and other members of the caretaker committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) appointed by the party’s National Working Committee.

The court has declared that Okocha and his team are no longer authorized to represent themselves as the chairman and members of the APC committee in Rivers State. T

The court, presided over by Justice Aprioku Sika, has ordered Okocha and other members of the caretaker committee—appointed by the APC National Working Committee—to stop presenting themselves as the committee’s officials.

The ruling reinstates the executive committee led by Emeka Beke, which had been previously dismissed by the National Working Committee (NWC).

Tony Okocha, the Caretaker Chairman of the APC, is a known ally of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, who played a crucial role in Okocha’s appointment to the Niger Delta Development Commission Board.

In contrast, Beke is associated with Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the former Governor and former Minister of Transportation.

Justice Sika has mandated Okocha and his team to avoid any interference with the affairs of the APC State Executive led by Emeka Beke for the remainder of their four-year term.

The court found that Okocha’s appointment and that of six others to the State APC Chairman and Caretaker Committee positions breached the party’s constitution and lacked justification.

However, the judge imposed a cost of N300,000 on the defendants.
