Abuja, Nigeria– President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, who stepped down from his position amid allegations of certificate forgery.

Nnaji, appointed in August 2023, tendered his resignation on Tuesday, expressing gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve the nation.

In his letter, he described himself as a victim of political blackmail and maintained that his decision to resign was in the best interest of the administration.

A statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed Tinubu’s acceptance of the resignation.

“President Tinubu thanks Nnaji for his service to the country and wishes him success in his future endeavours,” the statement read.
