BREAKING: Three Explosions Rock Maiduguri, Including At Teaching Hospital Entrance
The first explosion occurred at about 7:00 pm during iftar, the evening meal that marks the breaking of the Ramadan fast.
Maiduguri, Borno State – The capital of Borno State, Maiduguri, was shaken on Monday evening by a series of explosions, one of which occurred at the entrance of the Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, causing panic and fear across the city.
According to eyewitness accounts gathered by Afrika Eyes, the first explosion occurred at about 7:00 pm during iftar, the evening meal that marks the breaking of the Ramadan fast.
In a video obtained by AfrikaEyes, several security personnel were seen using torchlights to inspect a car parked at the entrance of a gate.
A voice speaking Hausa could be heard in the background, stating, “A bomb has exploded at the security checkpoint.”
The footage also shows a lifeless body lying beside the vehicle, highlighting the immediate human toll of the attack.
Afrika Eyes cannot yet ascertain the total number of casualties, as security and emergency response teams were still assessing the scene at the time of filing this report.
