BREAKING: Terrorists Launch Attacks On Eruku-Egbe Road In Kwara, Travelers Left Stranded
Eyewitnesses said the attackers struck while travelers were already in their vehicles, forcing many to abandon their journeys.
Ilorin, Kwara State– Travelers along the Eruku–Egbe road in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, were left stranded on Monday as terrorists reportedly launched attacks, creating panic and disruption.
Afrika Eyes gathered that the armed bandits have been actively operating along this route, targeting vehicles and passengers as they traveled.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers struck while travelers were already in their vehicles, forcing many to abandon their journeys.
A video obtained by Afrika Eyes showed several vehicles, including long trucks, parked along the roadside as passengers and drivers sought safety.
Witnesses revealed that the assailants are heavily armed.
In the video travelers expressed fear and frustration, noting that the attacks have significantly disrupted transportation and commerce in the local communities.
Many have called for increased security presence to prevent further incidents and ensure safe passage along the Eruku–Egbe corridor.
Afrika Eyes had reported that terrorists on Sunday attacked a commercial bus along the Kabba–Okene route, injuring several passengers and kidnapping many others in Kogi State.
One of the passengers, identified as Ayodele Aduroshakin, managed to escape and recounted his harrowing experience.
According to Aduroshakin, the gunmen ambushed the vehicle, firing several shots at it before using machetes to break through the doors.
“This is how we were kidnapped,” he said. “I was seated here when they shot at the vehicle door, but the bullets did not penetrate. They then used their cutlasses to destroy the door. Look at the blood stains inside the car.”
He added that the attackers, whom he described as Fulani men, opened fire on the driver before forcing passengers into the bush.
“They shot at our driver and dragged everyone out. They took us into the bush. One of them was wearing military camouflage, and all of them were Fulani. As we were going, I managed to run away,” Aduroshakin narrated
