BREAKING: Terrorists Invade Church In Kwara Community, Kidnap Nine Worshippers During Sunday Service

Afrika Eyes gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday when the armed assailants stormed the church.

Ilorin,  Kwara State– Suspected terrorists believed to be bandits have reportedly invaded a church in the Oro-Ago community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting at least nine persons during a Sunday gathering.

Afrika Eyes gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday when the armed assailants stormed the church.

Sources within the community told Afrika Eyes that the gunmen arrived suddenly and carried out the attack while people were inside the church.

A source familiar with the incident confirmed to Afrika Eyes that nine persons were kidnapped by the attackers during the invasion.

“Yes, I can confirm to you that nine people were kidnapped today and whisked away by the assailants,” the source said.

The source added that the attackers, suspected to be bandits, invaded the church premises unexpectedly, leaving residents and worshippers in shock.

According to residents, the incident has heightened fear in the Oro-Ago community, as cases of armed attacks and kidnappings have continued to spread to areas previously considered relatively safe.

At the time of filing this report, the identities of the kidnapped victims had not been made public, while it remained unclear if the attackers had contacted the families to demand ransom.

Local residents have reportedly expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation in the area, urging security agencies and the government to take urgent action to prevent further attacks.

Afrika Eyes had earlier reported that residents of three Local Government Areas in Kwara South Senatorial District have been placed on high alert following intelligence reports suggesting that terrorists and bandits may be planning coordinated attacks in parts of the state later this month.

The affected Local Government Areas include Ifelodun, Irepodun and Isin.

Afrika Eyes  gathered  that  the suspected attackers are allegedly planning to launch simultaneous attacks in the three local government areas on March 23, 2026, and again on March 28.

Meanwhile, residents and community leaders have been advised to remain cautious and report suspicious activities as authorities move to prevent any possible attack.

In a security alert issued on Saturday, the Coordinator of the Joint Security Watch, Elder Olaitan Oyin-Zubair, warned residents about the potential threat and urged them to cooperate with security agencies.

According to him, security authorities across the state have already been informed about the possible attacks and are taking steps to safeguard residents.

The statement read:”In view of the speculative bandits attacks on March 23, 2026 and March 28th, authorities including the Kwara State Police Command, Chairmen of Ifelodun, Irepodun, and Isin Local Government Areas, and other security agencies have been notified and are taking necessary precautions to protect citizens.”

He further urged members of the public to stay vigilant and actively assist security agencies by reporting unusual activities within their communities.

“We urge everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.”

Elder Oyin-Zubair stressed that community cooperation is critical to preventing security breaches and protecting lives and property.

“Your safety is our priority. Let’s work together to keep our communities safe.”

“Stay safe, stay alert.”

The alert comes amid rising concerns over banditry and armed attacks spreading from Nigeria’s North-West and North-Central regions into previously less affected areas.
