BREAKING: Terrorists Burn Emir’s Palace In Kwara Community, Abduct Women, Children, Emir’s Wives

Afrika Eyes  gathered that the attack occurred late at night when the heavily armed assailants stormed the community, firing sporadically.

Ilorin, Kwara State– Suspected terrorists believed to be bandits have reportedly invaded Yashikira community in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, setting the Emir’s palace ablaze and abducting several residents, including women, children and the Emir’s wives.

Afrika Eyes  gathered that the attack occurred late at night when the heavily armed assailants stormed the community, firing sporadically.

According to sources in the area, the gunmen attacked the palace during the invasion, setting parts of the royal residence on fire before whisking away multiple victims.

“The bandits invaded Yashikira in the night and attacked the palace. They set the palace on fire and kidnapped many women and children, including the Emir’s wives,” a source told Afrika Eyes.

Residents said the attackers operated for hours without resistance, leaving behind destruction and fear in the border community.

Another local source described the incident as terrifying, noting that villagers were caught unaware as the gunmen invaded the town under the cover of darkness.

“People were running in different directions to save their lives. The attackers were heavily armed and nobody could confront them. They burned the palace and took several people away,” the source said.

The latest attack has heightened fears among residents of Baruten Local Government Area, a region that has witnessed repeated security threats linked to armed bandits and cross-border criminal activities.

Community members lamented the worsening insecurity in the area and called on security agencies and the Kwara State Government to urgently intensify efforts to rescue the abducted victims and prevent further attacks.

As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had yet to issue an official statement regarding the attack, the number of persons kidnapped, or efforts being made to secure their release.
