BREAKING: ‘Some Ranking Senators Got N500m Each, I Didn’t Get Anything’– Senator Jarigbe Exposes Alleged ‘Bribe’ In Senate

There have been long accusations of senators receiving bribes from the executives to pass budget

Abuja, Nigeria– Cross River Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe pointed fingers at fellow senators, accusing certain “ranking senators” of pocketing N500 million each, while he alleged that he never received  such compensation.

Speaking during a plenary session on Tuesday, Senator Jarigbe denounced the alleged disparity in financial remuneration among his colleagues, asserting that such practices undermine the integrity of the Senate and compromise its ability to serve the nation effectively.

Jarigbe stated during the budget padding debate that he expected the matter to be resolved after “the chairman of the appropriation committee” spoke of the “anomalies.”

According to him, “As we speak, some so-called ranking senators got N500m each. I didn’t get anything,” which irked his colleagues forcing the Senate into a rowdy session.

While the senators stood up and formed groups, chatting in rowdy manner, Jarigbe doubled down on his accusation saying, “Let’s wash our dirty linen in public.”

He did not say what the money was paid for but it further validates fears by Nigerians that lawmakers have been fleecing the country for no reason.

There have been long accusations of senators receiving bribes from the executives to pass budget, clear appointees of government and allocating huge sums of money to themselves in the budget.
