BREAKING: Senate Approves Tinubu’s Emergency Rule In Rivers, Installs Sole Administrator
This approval comes just a day after Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas was sworn in as the sole administrator of Rivers State

Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Senate has approved President Bola Tinubu’s request for emergency rule in Rivers State, escalating the political crisis in the oil-rich region.
The decision followed a closed-door session on Thursday, where lawmakers deliberated on the controversial suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the federal government’s takeover of the state’s administration.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio presided over the session, after which lawmakers unanimously backed Tinubu’s emergency rule proclamation.
This approval comes just a day after Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas was sworn in as the sole administrator of Rivers State.
Ibas wasted no time assuming his role, arriving at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Thursday morning.
He immediately held a high-level meeting with senior security officials, a federal delegation, and key state government figures.
