BREAKING: Political Earthquake As 17 Reps Dump ADC For NDC
The mass defection was formally disclosed during plenary, sending shockwaves through the lower legislative chamber and further weakening the ADC’s standing in the National Assembly.
Abuja, Nigeria– No fewer than 17 members of Nigeria’s House of Representatives on Tuesday announced their defection from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of 2028 general elections.
The mass defection was formally disclosed during plenary, sending shockwaves through the lower legislative chamber and further weakening the ADC’s standing in the National Assembly.
The lawmakers who switched allegiance to the NDC include Yusuf Datti, Uchenna Okonkwo, Adamu Wakili, Thaddeus Attah, George Ozodinobi, Lilian Orogbu, Oluwaseyi Sowunmi, Peter Aniekwe, Mukhtar Zakari, George Oluwande, and Munachim Umezuruike.
Others are Emeka Idu, Jesse Onuakalusi, Ifeanyi Uzokwe, Afam Ogene, and Abdulhakeem Ado.
In a related development, Leke Abejide also announced his defection from the ADC, but to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), adding another layer to the unfolding political realignments.
Tuesday’s development comes barely 24 hours after two heavyweight politicians—Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and former New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) flagbearer, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso—also dumped the ADC for the NDC.
