BREAKING: Obasa Re-Elected Lagos Speaker After Meranda’s Resignation

Obasa, who represents Agege Constituency I, reclaimed the position seven weeks after his removal, amid ongoing leadership struggles in the Assembly.

Ikeja, Lagos State  Mudashiru Obasa has been re-elected as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday, following the resignation of Mojisola Meranda.

Obasa, who represents Agege Constituency I, reclaimed the position seven weeks after his removal, amid ongoing leadership struggles in the Assembly.

His re-election came after the nomination of Noheem Adams, a former Majority Leader representing Eti-Osa Constituency I.

Obasa subsequently took the oath of office, marking his return to a role he previously held from June 2015 until his removal in January 2025.

Having first entered the House in 2007, he remains one of the longest-serving lawmakers in Lagos State.
