Abuja, Nigeria– The House of Representatives has reversed its decision on the second reading of a bill seeking to strip the vice president, governors, and deputy governors of immunity from prosecution.

The move came after Julius Ihonvbere, the majority leader of the House, moved a motion during Thursday’s plenary session.

The lower legislative chamber also rescinded its decision on a separate bill seeking to abolish the death penalty.

Both bills had initially passed second reading during Wednesday’s plenary before the lawmakers decided to revisit their stance.
