Abuja, Nigeria– Barely days after stepping down as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has been appointed Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, officially announced Ganduje’s appointment on Wednesday.

The inauguration was confirmed in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Keyamo’s Special Adviser on Digital Media, Gbenga Saka.

Ganduje, a former Governor of Kano State, resigned as APC chairman on June 27, 2025, citing health concerns and a desire to focus on his well-being.

However, insiders within the APC allege his resignation was prompted by internal political strife and mounting pressure over financial impropriety allegations.

During his tenure, Ganduje faced multiple controversies, including a court order in April 2024 that restrained him from parading himself as a party member, following a legal challenge from Kano APC executives.

He was also accused of demanding excessive fees from aspirants seeking tickets for the FCT area council elections.
