BREAKING: Court Halts Senate Disciplinary Action Against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

Abuja, Nigeria – The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an order stopping the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions from taking disciplinary action against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu granted the order on Tuesday following an ex parte application filed by Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legal team.
The disciplinary proceedings stemmed from a heated exchange between Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio on February 20, which led to her being summoned by the committee.
The dispute reportedly revolved around the reallocation of her Senate chamber seat, prompting Senator Adeyemi Raphael Adaramodu to raise a motion on the matter.
In a letter dated Wednesday, the Clerk to the Committee, Christian N. Onwusonye, informed Akpoti-Uduaghan of a rescheduled public hearing to address the issue.
The letter, referenced NASS/S/10/EPP/DSNAU/2, stated that the hearing would be held at Meeting Room 120 in the New Senate Building, National Assembly, Abuja.
The letter also clarified that the rescheduling did not alter the contents of the previous invitation.
“The rescheduling of the date of the Public Hearing does not invalidate the other contents of the letter earlier sent to you on the same matter,” it read.
“The Committee regrets any inconvenience the sudden change of date may have caused.”
