BREAKING: Bandits Kill Vigilante Commander In Fresh Attack On Kwara Community

Ilorin,  Kwara State– Gunmen suspected to be bandits have launched another deadly attack on Kakafu village in the Lade District of Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing a vigilante commander identified as Tetengi.

A local sources told Afrika Eyes that the attack occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday when the heavily armed assailants stormed the community, shooting sporadically to instill fear and create confusion.

The source  described the bandits as numbering over a dozen, riding on motorcycles and carrying sophisticated weapons.

In the ensuing chaos, the vigilante commander, Tetengi, alongside his men, tried to repel the attackers. However, during the confrontation, he was gunned down, sending shockwaves across the community.

““We lost one of our brave local security commanders who, alongside others, confronted the bandits. We tried calling for security backup, but there was no response at the time the bandits struck. We are calling on the government to take drastic action; the incessant kidnappings and attacks are getting out of hand,” the source said

The incident triggered panic, with many villagers are calling for help.

As of press time, the exact number of people abducted during the attack remained uncertain, though residents fear several villagers may have been taken away.

The source have expressed deep concern over the increasing frequency of attacks in Patigi Local Government, warning that the lack of decisive government action is emboldening criminal gangs.

However, the residents urged authorities at both state and federal levels to deploy more security personnel and provide adequate support to local vigilante groups risking their lives to protect their communities.

Meanwhile, Kwara North and South have been facing incessant attacks and kidnappings, forcing many residents to flee their ancestral homes for the capital city.
