‘Because Of Politics, My Dignity Has Been Violated, I Have Been Humiliated’ — Kaduna House Of Reps Aspirant, Abin Al’ajabin Zazzau, Speaks On Mockery, Power, Representation

Kaduna State– A 30-year-old House of Representatives aspirant from Kaduna State, popularly known as Abin Al’ajabin Zazzau, has alleged that he has suffered humiliation, insults and repeated attacks on his dignity because of the way he was created by Allah and because of his political ambition.

The aspirant, who is seeking to represent  Sabon Gari/Fada Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, made the remarks during an interview with rfi, speaking in Hausa language observed by Afrika Eyes.

Speaking emotionally during the interview, he said political opponents and critics had constantly mocked and attacked him, including insulting his parents, simply because of his appearance and his decision to venture into politics.

“For political reasons, my dignity has been violated. I have been humiliated and deprived because of the creation Allah gave me,” he said.

“I have been judged because of the way Allah created me. There is nothing people have not done to me. I have been insulted, humiliated, disgraced, and even my parents have been insulted. There is no move I try to make without people attacking my dignity and disrespecting me.”

The politician said despite the attacks against him, he remained determined to contest for the House of Representatives seat in order to reform the constituency and create opportunities for young people.

According to him, many youths in Sabon Gari had become trapped in gangs and groups because of lack of opportunities and poor leadership.

“I decided to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Abuja Sabon Gari/Fada Constituency because I want to bring youths out of the groups and gangs they are involved in,” he said.

“The youths are trapped in different groups, and honestly, Sabon Gari needs reform and correction.

“Our people are not asking for handouts or food. What people need is to be shown a way to earn a living — to be taught how to fish, not just be given fish.

“We want to show people opportunities and empowerment, not just hand them things. If you keep giving someone things today, tomorrow when you return, you will get tired because the person will still depend on you. Instead of constant handouts, people should be empowered to stand on their own.”

The aspirant lamented what he described as years of poor representation in the National Assembly, insisting that the constituency had not received the level of development it deserved despite its strategic importance to Kaduna State and Nigeria.

“In Sabon Gari constituency, since the beginning of time, there has never really been proper representation in the National Assembly for the area,” he said.

“Across the constituency as a whole, development has not reached many places, especially some parts of Sabon Gari and surrounding areas.

“Yet Sabon Gari is a very important commercial and industrial area, not just in Kaduna State but in Nigeria as a whole. We have industries, textile companies, and institutions. We have the university city area and Ahmadu Bello University. We also have aviation-related activities here.

“There are many things in this place that should have brought massive development. So why shouldn’t we be given proper representation?

“We understand governance. We know how leadership works. In fact, those currently in office do not know more than we do about how things are run there.”

Speaking on his political history, the aspirant disclosed that he had attempted to contest for the same House of Representatives seat during the 2023 general elections but stepped aside after appeals from stakeholders.

According to him, the candidate eventually elected at the time had suffered insecurity challenges, including being in the hands of bandits, and community stakeholders appealed to him and others to support the candidate out of sympathy.

“Yes. In 2023, I wanted to contest for this same House of Representatives seat,” he said.

“But during meetings with stakeholders, they advised me to be patient because of the situation the other candidate was facing at the time. They said he had suffered and had even been in the hands of bandits.

“So they appealed to us, and because of sympathy, we supported him. We gave him support because nobody received the kind of support we gave him.

“We supported him throughout Sabon Gari constituency until he eventually won the election — even at a time when he himself did not fully understand what was happening around him.

“Because of that, we stood by him, helped him, and respected him. We even guided and advised him.

“But when we realized he was not helping the people, we began to see the signs. No matter what happens, we are from the same place, almost like one family. But if you are not doing what will help the people — and you know it yourself, together with your family — then we must come together and make a decision.”

Explaining why he specifically chose to contest for the House of Representatives instead of other political offices, he said the federal legislature matched his vision, influence and capacity better than positions at the state or local government levels.

“Because the House of Representatives position suits me best. Right now, there is no position more fitting for me than that,” he said.

“What would I be doing in the State Assembly? The amount of money I personally spend helping people and employing people in one week can equal the salary of a state lawmaker.

“At the local government level, I already have influence and responsibilities there, but my focus is federal.

“If I am going to struggle and work hard, let it be at the federal level where I can bring projects and benefits that will help the people. We have interests and connections everywhere. We understand how things work there. It is not about making noise or fighting.

“What matters is what you can bring to help the entire constituency. What is the point of going there if you cannot speak up in the House of Representatives?

“A representative can, through the budget process, help many people in the constituency — if he truly wants to.”

He further stressed the importance of legislative power, saying lawmakers had the ability to influence national decisions and even put pressure on the President when necessary.

“And when it comes to committees, it is not merely about belonging to a committee. If you stand up and speak strongly, your voice will be heard,” he said.

“Everyone has the opportunity to speak. So why should fear stop you from speaking on behalf of the people who elected you?

“The people sent you there because they believe in you. You did not send yourself there.

“Nobody carries himself into office alone. No matter how rich you are, or how much money you have, you cannot take yourself there without people voting for you.

“And if you do not know how to spend money wisely in politics, people will outsmart you and waste it for you.

“But in the parliament, when you speak, your words are recorded and even the President can see them.

“In fact, the legislature has enormous power — they can put pressure on the President whenever they choose because of the powers they possess. That is why everything important happens there.”

Asked if that was the major reason behind his decision to pursue the House of Representatives seat, he answered in the affirmative.

“Yes, that is why I chose it,” he said.

“Because if I do not contest for that seat, there is no way I can truly help my people the way I want to.

“People will just continue suffering and crying. Honestly, if it is not the Senate, then it has to be the House of Representatives. Anything below that is not enough for me.

“Right now, by the grace of Allah, I already have influence, resources, and relationships with people. Even if someone suggests the State Assembly to me, it is not something that fits my vision or capability.”

The aspirant also spoke extensively about the discrimination and mockery he said he had endured because of his physical appearance.

Asked whether people had ever looked down on him because of the way Allah created him, he responded: “Yes. Because of the way Allah created me, people have done everything imaginable to me.

“I have been insulted, humiliated, disgraced, and my parents have been insulted too. Every move I make is met with disrespect and attacks on my dignity.”

When asked if the attacks were politically motivated, he replied: “Because of politics. It has become something people constantly talk about.

“They continue insulting and humiliating me — unless I decide otherwise. Unless I retaliate.

“But revenge is not something to rush into. If we truly wanted revenge, things would not remain this way.

“The same people insulting and disrespecting us today are the same people we were with yesterday, are with today, and may still be with tomorrow.”

He, however, said he believed his uniqueness was part of Allah’s design and insisted that no human being had the right to question how God created another person.

“What makes me unique is from Allah — it is intelligence and ability given by God,” he added.

“Allah is the One who creates people differently. Nobody can question Allah’s creation.

“Sometimes Allah creates a person in a way that even the person himself may wonder about his own condition, but it is Allah who made him that way.

“Everything people see in me is from Allah. That is why, no matter how much someone mocks another person, Allah can still surprise everyone with what He can make that person become.”
