Bankole Commends Tinubu On Student Loan, Bawa’s, Emefiele Suspension
The introduction of the free loan for the student is a very welcome idea
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of KAB Construction, Dr. Kehinde Alex Bankole has lauded the introduction of Student loan by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Bankole gave the commendation on Friday while addressing newsmen on the sideline of the Career and Mentorship Programme organized by Kwara Tabloid in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
The mentorship program in conjunction with the Kwara Citizenship Development Initiative will provide a platform for discussion around topics related to career growth, institutional knowledge and essential leadership skills.
He said the recent Student loan bill assented by Tinubu Opportunity would benefit all indigent students whose parents cannot afford to sponsor to school.
According to Bankole, Everybody knows how difficult it is to go to school in Nigeria, I was once a student and I know what I went through. I was a boy conductor in Lagos for at least four good years.
“I will leave Ilorin every Thursday and come back on Sunday, most time Monday morning just to sponsor myself to school, the rest is now history”. he said.
He noted that the access to loan scheme for the student is a good development, once a student is a bonafide of certain institutions, such a student is entitled to that loan.
Bankole added: “A medical student who has taken a loan for the entire courses, won’t leave Nigeria after graduation, the student will know that he has a loan to pay back.
“If we have something like a student loan that will enable you to go to school like our fathers used to say in those days, going to school was fun because they had everything being provided for by the government.
Speaking on the suspension of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, he said his suspension is long overdue.
“It is only in this part of the world that you will see a civil servant coming out to tell you that I’m stealing your money and still confront you, with your money that he has stolen. How can you describe a situation where a sitting CBN governor picked a presidential nomination form and paid N100 million. Such can only happen in Nigeria”.
On AbdulRasheed Bawa’s suspension, the former PDP House of Representatives Aspirant said the former Zamfara State Governor alleged him requesting for $2million bribe.
He said the allegation is weighty and Bawa who many people have questioned on how he got about 300, 000 dollars which he spent at the lesser Hajj.
He said Bawa, who heads the country’s most known anti-corruption agency, ought to serve as the unbiased umpire.
His words: “When our leaders are being called for questioning, I don’t think we should be raised dust about it, they are responsible to us. Therefore, when you call them for questioning it is not a big deal, let them answer the questions, if they are not found wanting then the authority let them go, and if they are found wanting let them be felt with.
Bankole said nobody would have thought that President Tinubu would come and handle the anti-corruption crusade in less than three weeks.
He commended the efforts of Tinubu and assured Nigerians that Asiwaju would do better than expected.
