Katsina State– Suspected bandits on Monday night attacked Gidan Na Ango community in Dayi District of Malumfashi Local Government Area, Katsina State, carting away a motorcycle and several mobile phones.

Afrika Eyes gathered that the attackers stormed the community, dispossessing residents of their belongings before fleeing the area without resistance.

In a separate and unrelated development, security operatives acted on intelligence reports in Kwatangiri community, Funtua Local Government Area, where two individuals were arrested.

A security alert platform, Bakatsine, confirmed both incidents on Tuesday, noting that the two arrested individuals had been handed over to C-Watch personnel for profiling and verification of their identities and activities.

According to security sources, the suspects are currently believed to be hunters and not armed bandits, pending further investigation.

Security agencies have urged residents of both Malumfashi and Funtua areas to remain calm, assuring them that monitoring and investigations are ongoing to prevent further attacks and to maintain peace in the affected communities.

Katsina State has remained one of the flashpoints of banditry in Nigeria’s North-West, with rural communities frequently targeted for raids, abductions and theft, despite repeated assurances by authorities of intensified security operations.
