Ilorin,  Kwara State- Armed bandits on Saturday night invaded Mawogi village in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing a youth leader and abducting two residents in a violent attack that left several others traumatised.

According to reports obtained by Afrika Eyes, the incident occurred between 11 p.m. and midnight when the assailants stormed the community, shooting sporadically to instil fear among residents.

Meanwhile, during the invasion, the attackers shot a mother and her son, killing the son on the spot while the mother sustained serious gunshot injuries.

The deceased was identified as Yanma Ndawodi, the Youth Leader of Mawogi community, while the injured woman was named as Gogo Fatima.

Sources within the community said the gunmen also abducted five residents during the raid.

However, three of the abducted victims reportedly managed to escape hours later. Those still being held by the kidnappers have been identified as Ndagi Kudu and a woman named Hawau.

Afrika Eyes previously reported that terrorists suspected to be bandits have attacked Gbale, Bokungi, and Bishewa villages in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, leaving one person dead, another abducted, and three motorcycles stolen.

It was gathered that the armed men, who were heavily armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the area in large numbers on motorcycles on Tuesday, shooting sporadically to instill fear among villagers.

Meanwhile, the attackers moved from one community to another, dispossessing residents of their valuables before escaping with three motorcycles and kidnapping one person.

According to NupekoTv-Lafiagi TV, the attackers’ initial movement through Gbale village turned violent when they noticed activity in a newly built house and began firing sporadically.

However, residents and community vigilantes swiftly mobilised and repelled the assault.

The bandits then advanced to Bokungi village, where they again attempted an attack but were overpowered by local vigilantes who successfully defended the community.

Frustrated by their failed attempts, the assailants regrouped and stormed Bishewa village, unleashing terror that left one resident dead, his younger brother abducted, and three motorcycles — all belonging to the same family — stolen.

The victims were said to be relatives of a woman kidnapped in Bishewa a few days earlier, leading locals to describe the repeated attacks as targeted and deeply traumatic.
