Bandits Kill Father, Abduct Daughter In Kwara As Students Demand Immediate Rescue Of Captive Undergraduate

Ilorin,  Kwara State- The National Association of Lafiagi Emirate Students (NALES) has called on Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Muhammed Kudu Kawu, and the Chairman of Edu Local Government Area, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, to take urgent and decisive action to secure the release of a student, Mohammed Aishat, who was abducted by bandits after her father was killed during an attack.

Afrika Eyes gathered that Aishat was kidnapped by armed bandits on June 1, 2026, during a violent attack that claimed the life of her father.

However, more than two weeks after the incident, she remains in captivity, sparking growing concern among students and residents of the community.

The appeal was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the National Association of Lafiagi Emirate Students (NALES) National Headquarters and signed by its National President, Mohammed Haruna Kponta.

The students’ body condemned the continued captivity of one of its members and expressed concern over the delay in securing her freedom.

“The National Association of Lafiagi Emirate Students (NALES) NHQS strongly condemns the continued captivity of our fellow student, who was abducted by bandits on 1st June, 2026, after the tragic killing of her father during the attack.”

The association lamented that despite the passage of more than two weeks since the abduction, the student remains in the hands of her captors.

“More than two weeks have passed, yet our student remains in the hands of her abductors. This situation is unacceptable, heartbreaking, and raises serious concerns about the safety of lives and properties within our communities.”

NALES called on Governor AbdulRazaq, the chairman of Edu Local Government Area, the Emir of Lafiagi, and security agencies to immediately intensify efforts to secure Aishat’s release.

“We therefore call on the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Chairman of Edu Local Government Area, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Lafiagi, Alh. Muhammed Kudu Kawu, and all security agencies to take immediate and decisive action to secure her release,” the association said.

The students stressed that they could no longer remain silent while one of their colleagues remained in captivity, demanding urgent intervention and a coordinated rescue operation.

The statement read,  “As students, we can no longer remain silent while one of our own is held captive. We demand urgent intervention and a coordinated rescue effort to ensure her safe return. The lives of students and citizens must not be treated with indifference.

The association also urged authorities to demonstrate their commitment to protecting lives by acting swiftly, warning that continued delays were deepening fear and anxiety within the community.

“We urge all relevant authorities to demonstrate their commitment to protecting the people by acting swiftly and effectively. The continued silence and delay in resolving this matter only deepen the pain and fear within our community,” it stated.

NALES reaffirmed its support for the family of Mohammed Aishat and vowed to continue advocating for her safe release.

“NALES NHQS stands firmly with the Mohammed Aishat family and will continue to advocate for justice and her safe release. We call on all well-meaning individuals, community leaders, and stakeholders to lend their voices to this cause.

“Enough is enough. Our student must be rescued and reunited with her family,” the association added.
