A source who spoke with Afrika Eyes said the gunmen stormed the community under the cover of darkness, shooting sporadically to instill fear and force residents out of their homes before whisking several people away to an unknown destination.

“The incident happened late on Sunday night. The attackers came in large numbers and kidnapped several residents, but we can’t confirm how many people were taken yet,” the source said.

The source added that the invasion threw the community into chaos as families fled for safety, while those whose relatives were taken have been thrown into deep distress.

In recent months, Kwara South has witnessed a troubling surge in bandit attacks and kidnappings, leaving many communities in a state of fear and uncertainty.

The persistent violence has forced several residents in the affected areas to abandon their homes in search of safety, while others remain trapped and terrified as the insecurity continues.

Residents noted that the bandits often strike at night, targeting rural settlements, looting properties, and abducting villagers for ransom.

However, despite efforts by security operatives to restore peace, the situation remains tense, with calls growing louder for government intervention and improved security measures to protect lives and property in the region.
