Bandits Betray Agreement, Demand Extra Motorcycle After Receiving N10Million Ransom For Abducted NYSC Member In Zamfara

A source familiar with the situation disclosed that the family had believed the victim would be released as promised after delivering the cash and motorcycles. However, the situation took a dramatic turn when the bandits introduced a new condition.

Gusau, Zamfara State– Despite meeting an initial ransom demand of N10million and providing two brand new motorcycles, the family of an abducted National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in Zamfara State has been thrown into fresh distress as the terrorists reportedly demanded an additional motorcycle before releasing him.

Afrika Eyes gathered that the corps member, who was expected to regain freedom on Monday after the family fulfilled all agreed conditions, remains in captivity following the sudden change in terms by his abductors.

A source familiar with the situation disclosed that the family had believed the victim would be released as promised after delivering the cash and motorcycles. However, the situation took a dramatic turn when the bandits introduced a new condition.

“They already paid N10million and provided two brand new motorcycles as agreed. Everyone was expecting his release yesterday, but the bandits came back with another demand,” the source said.

According to the source, the kidnappers claimed that their leader was not aware of the earlier agreement, insisting that an additional brand new motorcycle must be provided before the corps member could be freed.

“The excuse they gave was that their boss did not approve the initial deal, so they are now asking for one more motorcycle. It has left the family devastated,” the source added.

The incident highlights the worsening insecurity in Zamfara State, where bandit groups frequently target residents, travelers, and students for abduction, often imposing escalating ransom demands even after initial agreements are met.

Afrika Eyes had earlier reported on February 28, 2026, that the abducted corps member cried out for urgent intervention as bandits subjected him to severe torture in captivity.

In the disturbing video obtained by Afrika Eyes, the victim, who spoke in Hausa, was surrounded by armed bandits who repeatedly flogged, kicked and humiliated him while he desperately pleaded for his life.

The footage showed the visibly exhausted corps member lying helplessly on the ground as the attackers struck him mercilessly with long sticks while others punched and kicked him.

Throughout the video, the victim could be heard crying and begging Nigerians for intervention, saying his life was slipping away due to the relentless torture.

“Please help me for God’s sake, please help my life. I may soon die in this situation,” the distraught corps member pleaded.

Despite his desperate cries, the attackers continued the assault.

Two of the bandits were seen repeatedly flogging him with long sticks while others violently punched and kicked him before smashing him onto the ground.

The corps member, visibly weak and struggling to breathe, continued begging for mercy, invoking religious appeals in an attempt to soften the hearts of his captors.

“For the sake of Allah, please help me. For the sake of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), please help me. Please help my life,” he cried.

However, the bandits showed no compassion.

At one point, one of the attackers speaking in Hausa boasted that they would torture the corps member in the same way he claimed the Nigerian military tortures suspects.

The brutality escalated further as the armed men stood on the victim’s chest and repeatedly jumped on it while continuing to flog him.

The victim writhed in pain as he struggled to survive the assault.

At a point in the footage, the corps member appeared to lose strength and said he had died. Instead of stopping, one of the bandits laughed loudly and kicked him in the head, mocking his condition.

The video captured the victim breathing heavily and barely able to move as the attackers continued their assault.

Banditry and mass abductions have continued to plague several parts of northern Nigeria, with students, travellers and youth corps members increasingly becoming targets of kidnappers seeking ransom payments.
