Bandits Abduct Petrol Dealer, Manager In Kwara, Demand N200m Ransom

Ilorin,  Kwara State– Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted a petrol dealer, Alhaji Abbas, and his manager, Abubakar Issa, in the Gbugbu area of Edu Local Government Area, Kwara State.

It was gathered that the abduction occurred on Thursday evening around 7:20 p.m. along the Gbugbu–Ndeji Road as the victims were returning from work.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers, who were riding motorcycles, fired several gunshots into the air to disperse bystanders before forcefully seizing the two men.

The assailants reportedly made away with an undisclosed sum of money and later set the victims’ vehicle on fire before fleeing the scescen.

Afrika Eyes also learned that the kidnappers have since demanded a ransom of N200 million for the release of the victims.

Alhaji Abbas, one of the abductees, is said to have previously survived a similar bandit attack in the region.

Attempts to reach the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, were unsuccessful as she did not respond to messages sent via the official police WhatsApp group as of press time.
