Baby Stolen From Ekiti Health Centre As Police Detain Four Suspects

Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State– The Ekiti State Police Command has detained four individuals in connection with the mysterious disappearance of a day-old baby at Okeyimi Health Centre in Ado Ekiti.

Spokesman of the command, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the development on Monday, stating that the newborn, delivered around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, was allegedly taken by unknown persons shortly after birth.

Among those being questioned are medical staff on duty, security personnel, and other suspects, who are currently assisting police investigators.

Abutu said the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case and carry out a comprehensive probe to recover the missing infant and bring those responsible to justice.

Meanwhile, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a nurse on duty discovered the baby was missing this morning while attending to the mother and child.

Attempts to reach the hospital management for comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
