At Least 19 Directors Fail Permanent Secretary Examination, 19 Remain In Race
The 19 successful candidates would proceed to the second stage of the selection process.
Abuja, Nigeria- No fewer than Nineteen Directors have failed the written examination for the position of Permanent Secretary, which was held in Abuja on Monday.
The candidates were part of the 38 eligible officials vying for the vacancies created by the retirement of permanent secretaries in several states, including Abia, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Kaduna, Kebbi, and Rivers.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Mrs Eno Olotu, Head of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, confirmed that the 19 successful candidates would proceed to the second stage of the selection process.
According to her, this next phase, scheduled for Wednesday, will evaluate their proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), a critical skill for effective government administration.
Olotu explained that the office of the Head of Service of the Federation follows a well-established three-stage process designed to ensure that only the most qualified directors at Grade Level 17 are appointed as permanent secretaries.
“This rigorous process equips them with the necessary skills to enhance and sustain effective service delivery.
“The successful candidates will then proceed to the final stage, where they will face a panel of senior bureaucrats and representatives from the organised private sector for an evaluation on Friday, November 15,” she said.
Olotu conveyed the goodwill of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Esther Didi Walson-Jack, to all 38 candidates and expressed appreciation for the ongoing support from the Nigerian public in promoting meritocracy in civil service career progression.
