Abuja, Nigeria- Alex Ikwechegh, a member of the House of Representatives representing the Aba North and South Federal Constituency (APGA),  assaulted an e-hailing driver at his residence in Maitama, Abuja.

The driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, was said to have delivered the package when the altercation occurred between him and the lawmaker.

In a viral video, Ikwechegh can be seen aggressively slapping and verbally abusing Abuwatseya after the driver requested that he come outside to retrieve a package containing snails.

The visibly enraged representative condemned the driver’s request as disrespectful, given his social standing, and threatened the driver, saying, “I’ll make you disappear,” implying he would face no repercussions for his actions.

When the driver requested the delivery fee, the politician slapped him multiple times querying if the driver knew who he was talking to.

Meanwhile, as the video circulates, many are demanding an investigation into Ikwechegh’s conduct and the implications of his threats.

“I am not going to call my policemen to beat you up, I will do that myself. I will show that I am a big brother to you, tie you up, lie you down and put you in my generator house. Do you know where you are? Because you saw me sitting outside here. Look at this monkey.”

Added: “Do you know who I am I just slapped you and there’s nothing you will do. My name is Honourable Alex Ikwechegh, tell them (public) I slapped you. Call the Inspector General of Police that I slapped you, let him come. Record me very well,” he boasted.
