APC Youth Bloc In Kwara Endorses Engr. Femi Sanni’s Governorship Ambition Amid Massive Turnout
The group urged party leaders to prioritise competence, credibility, and broad-based acceptance over narrow political considerations.
Ilorin, Kwara State– A prominent youth coalition within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has publicly declared its support for Engr. Femi Sanni, popularly known as Araba, endorsing his governorship ambition.
The endorsement was formally announced on Friday by the Kwara Youth for Good Governance (KYFGG) during a high-profile gathering held at the Arca Santa Event Centre in Ilorin, the state capital.
The event, which drew an overwhelming crowd of supporters, party delegates, and political stakeholders, witnessed an unprecedented turnout that exceeded the venue’s capacity.
Dozens of attendees were reportedly stranded outside, unable to gain entry due to limited space — a scene that underscored the growing traction of Sanni’s candidacy among grassroots supporters.
Addressing the gathering, Salman Idris, convener of the KYFGG, presented the group’s endorsement as a carefully considered decision grounded in measurable performance rather than sentiment.
“Our decision is based on evidence, not emotion,” Idris declared. “We have critically assessed Engr. Femi Sanni’s track record — in business, youth empowerment, and humanitarian service — and we are convinced that he represents the kind of leadership the younger generation in Kwara is yearning for.”
He further emphasised that the endorsement reflects a broader shift among young people in the state, who are increasingly determined to play an active role in shaping political outcomes rather than remaining on the sidelines.
“We are no longer passive observers,” the group stated collectively. “This is a generational moment. Young people must not only participate in governance but also influence who leads.”
The coalition highlighted Sanni’s extensive background in enterprise and job creation, describing it as a critical advantage at a time when youth unemployment continues to pose a major challenge in Kwara State.
According to the group, his experience in building businesses and creating opportunities aligns with the urgent need for economic revitalization driven by innovation and inclusivity.
In addition to his economic credentials, the KYFGG pointed to Sanni’s longstanding involvement in grassroots sports development.
They argued that his investments in sports have not only empowered young people but have also contributed to social cohesion and stability across communities.
“His commitment to grassroots sports is not just about recreation; it is about engagement, discipline, and giving young people a sense of purpose,” Idris noted.
Beyond these areas, the group also cited Sanni’s humanitarian interventions as evidence of a leadership approach rooted in empathy and inclusiveness.
They referenced his support for vulnerable populations and community-based initiatives as indicators of a governance style that prioritizes people-centered development.
“Leadership is not just about policies; it is about compassion,” Idris added. “Engr. Sanni has consistently demonstrated that he understands the struggles of ordinary people and is willing to act.”
In its closing remarks, the KYFGG called on stakeholders within the APC to adopt a consultative and inclusive approach in selecting the party’s eventual governorship candidate.
The group urged party leaders to prioritise competence, credibility, and broad-based acceptance over narrow political considerations.
“We appeal to the leadership of our great party to ensure that the process of choosing a flagbearer reflects the collective will of the people,” the group stated. “The future of Kwara depends on getting it right.”
