Angry Youths Set Two Suspected Ritualists Ablaze In Nsukka

According to reports, the girl was the daughter of one late Philip Ugwu of Umuidu, went missing a few days ago and was later found dead in a nearby bush where her eyes and private parts were removed.

Two suspected ritualists have been set ablaze by an angry mob in Ede-Oballa community, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu state on Monday, following their alleged involvement in killing and removing of private parts of a little girl in the community.

The suspects were simply identified as Ifeanyi, a native doctor, and Chidera. One of the suspects in a viral video confessed to the crime before he was whisked away by the mob

According to reports, the girl was the daughter of one late Philip Ugwu of Umuidu, went missing a few days ago and was later found dead in a nearby bush where her eyes and private parts were removed.

An eyewitness in a chat with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said, “The girl who was about 10 years old was initially declared missing and the next day she was found dead with her body badly mutilated. Her eyes were plugged out, her private parts were cut off and taken away by the suspected ritualists.

“That was why when residents heard that the perpetrators of the dastardly act had been arrested by the Neighbourhood Watch, everybody rushed to their office.

Angered by the development, the elders and youths in the community went out of their way in search of what happened to the little girl. It was discovered that some members of the community were involved in the murder of the little girl, two persons were arrested by the member of the neighbourhood watch, but the angry mob overpowered them and set them ablaze,” a source said.

Meanwhile, the crowd overpowered the security men and grabbed the two ritualists that killed the girl and set them on fire and watched them beaten to death. It was the intention of the security men to take the suspects to the police but they were overpowered by the mob.”
