After 10 Months In Captivity, Abducted Doctor Regain Freedom

Kaduna State-  Dr Ganiyat Popoola, a female medical practitioner, has been released after enduring 10 months of captivity.

The Kaduna-based resident doctor was abducted last year, prompting widespread concern within the medical community and the public.

The news of her release was confirmed by Dr Omoha Amobi, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD).

In a statement, he expressed the collective joy and relief within the association, saying, “The president of NARD, Dr. Osundara Tope Zenith, is filled with immense joy and relief to inform you that Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, our dear colleague and resident doctor from the National Eye Centre, Kaduna, who was kidnapped and remained in captivity for more than ten months, has been released and reunited with her family.”

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a role in ensuring her safe return. The unwavering support, prayers, and contributions of all members and well-wishers have been invaluable in this challenging time.

“Let us continue to support one another as we work towards a safer and more secure environment for all,” Amobi said.
