Abuja-Kaduna Train Hostage Negotiator, Tukur Mamu, Arrested In Egypt

The publisher has been flown back to Nigeria by Interpol after interrogation.

The publisher of Desert Herald Newspaper and a self-appointed negotiator for the Abuja-Kaduna train attack victims, Tukur Mamu, has been arrested by Interpol at the Cairo International Airport, Egypt.

It would be recalled that a group of terrorists on March 28 attacked a Kaduna-bound train and abducted several passengers while others were killed, and Mr Mamu, the publisher of Desert Herald Newspaper, since then has been negotiating with the terrorists for the release of the kidnapped victims.

It was also gathered that the publisher has been flown back to Nigeria by Interpol after interrogation.

The Publisher, who personally confirmed his arrest to journalists on Wednesday, said: “I am on my way to Madina Saudi Arabia when they stopped me at Cairo Airport under the Nigerian Government order.

“Nothing was found in my possession. So I am sure the DSS officials are waiting for me at the Kano Airport, I don’t have anything to hide and as I said I am not afraid of them (DSS).

“I swear to God I am not afraid of them. I just want the world to know what is happening.”

Although no official statement on Mamu’s arrest from the Nigerian government yet.

However, his two wives and one other person are expected to arrive at Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano Wednesday afternoon.
