Abia Assembly Speaker Impeached

The police and other security agents have taken over the premises of the state Assembly to forestall any breakdown of law

The Speaker of Abia Assembly, Hon Chinedum Orji, has been impeached by members of the state House of Assembly.

Mr Orji, representing Umuahia Central State Constituency, lost his bid to represent the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal constituency in the February 25 National Assembly election.

Members of the Abia State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, voted to impeach its Speaker, Hon. Chinedum Orji.

Mr Orji was impeached at about 9 am Tuesday, May 2, the impeachment was carried out by 18 out of 27 members of the Assembly who sat at an undisclosed location.

They include Ginger Onwusibe, Munachim Alozie, Solomon Akpulonu, and Kelechi Onuzuruike.

Mr Orji’s removal followed a motion moved by Hon. Chukwudi Apugo (Umuahia East), and seconded by Hon. Okey Igwe (PDP, Umunneochi).

Meanwhile, the police and other security agents have taken over the premises of the state Assembly to forestall any breakdown of law and other.
