BREAKING: Trump Orders U.S. ‘Department Of War’ To Strike Terrorists Over Mass Killings Of Christians In Nigeria
Trump said the strikes targeted ISIS-linked fighters blamed for years of deadly violence across parts of northern Nigeria
Washington, United States– United States President Donald Trump has announced that he has directed what he described as the U.S. “Department of War” to carry out coordinated military strikes against terrorists operating in Northwest Nigeria, accusing them of orchestrating mass killings of Christians in the region.
Trump said the strikes targeted ISIS-linked fighters blamed for years of deadly violence across parts of northern Nigeria, where communities have repeatedly come under attack amid worsening insecurity.
In a statement released on December 25, Trump said the military action was carried out under his authority as Commander-in-Chief, describing the operation as decisive and punitive.
“Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS terrorist scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians, at levels not seen for many years, and even centuries,” Trump said.
He claimed the action followed earlier warnings to the armed groups, insisting that they had ignored repeated demands to halt attacks on Christian communities.
“I have previously warned these terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was,” he added.
According to Trump, the operation involved “numerous perfect strikes,” which he said demonstrated U.S. military superiority and resolve against what he described as radical Islamic terrorism.
“The Department of War executed numerous perfect strikes, as only the United States is capable of doing. Under my leadership, our country will not allow radical Islamic terrorism to prosper,” he stated.
Trump added with a Christmas greeting, praising the U.S. military while issuing a renewed warning to militant groups.
“May God bless our military, and Merry Christmas to all, including the dead terrorists—of which there will be many more if their slaughter of Christians continues,” he said.
Nigeria’s Northwest and North-Central regions have for years been plagued by armed banditry, insurgency, and communal violence, with thousands killed and millions displaced.
While ISIS-affiliated factions are known to operate mainly in the North-East, particularly around the Lake Chad region, claims of expanding militant activity into other parts of the country have continued to generate controversy and concern.
